Tri-factored sables

My childhood dog and my first champion, Ch. Parker of Mirluc, CD was a tri-factored sable male. He was the love of my life and obviously had a huge influence on how I saw shelties. His father was the tri-color, Ch. Rockwoods Nite Enchantment, CD and his mother was a sable Misty's Lucky Cricket, CDX. Betty Ieronimo of Mirluc shelties, the breeder of Parker, owned Cricket and she can be found in all of my pedigrees today through her stunning great-granddaughter, Ch. Zion's Bright Signature.

Happy New Year 2019

Acadia King Charles says Happy New Year. On December 30 , 2018 his one and only litter (with Dove) that included GCh. Cassia, GCh. Manny and Ch. Eden turned 10 years old. Today Charlie's family sent me this great picture. It is so hard to believe how time flies. I hope that I take the time to stop and smell the Roses and enjoy each dog every day.

Acadia Peace and Quiet,CD is the daughter of GCh. Acadia Prince of Peace, HT, OJP, VC out of Acadia Decibel (a Cassia daughter). I thought Peace and Quiet was a cute name for this pairing- and what would her call name be? Well Bliss of course. When you live with multiple shelties, your idea about "bliss" changes ;-)

Bliss was a beautiful puppy and I showed her when she was in the 6-9 month class. She won a major reserve. I was so pleased with the way she handled herself at shows. She was quietly confident and steady. During the winter her ear tip started to get lower and lower- until I could no longer show her. She had so many qualities that I did breed her, but then she went to live with my friend Penny.

Penny is a remarkable trainer and I knew that she would appreciate Bliss. There was just one problem. Penny has a family member named Bliss- so Bliss got a name change to Tess. Tess is training in Obedience and Rally. I was getting messages from Penny telling me about Tess' high scores in obedience, and she completed all 3 CD legs with scores in the 190's. The highest score possible is 200, so she was near perfect.

At the ASSA National Tess competed in Rally Novice for her first time. There were 43 shelties entered in that class and Tess placed FIRST! I am sure she will finish the RN (Rally Novice) title quickly. I am super excited that Tess will have so many opportunities with Penny. I know that Tess really loves pleasing her- it is obvious in the pictures I get.

Parker completed the Novice Agility Jumpers and Novice Fast (agility) and is alrerady only one qualifying score away from his Open titles. I am so proud of Tina and Parker for competing in agility. Parker is the pride and joy of Tina's parents. He is named both for their love of camping, and to honor his dad, GCh. Acadia Prince of Peace, HT, NPJ, VC

New CH Acadia's Crown Prince

Luke completed his championship this weekend by winning his 2nd major. I was So Thrilled because he did it on the 1st day of a 4 day show weekend. It was such a relief to win the first day. I "bumped him up" to the Best of Breed class so he could compete for points towards the Grand Championship. This weekend he also successfully won a major towards his Grand Champion. I would call that a successful weekend.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU PEGGY CRAWFORD!!!! Manny has been visiting Peggy Crawford, Peggin Shelties, in Alaska this past year. Together, they earned the Grand Championship, the Herding Tested title (HT), and the Novice Perferred Jumpers (NJP) title.

The addition of these performance titles earned Manny a Versatility Certificate (VC) from the American Shetland Sheepdog Association (ASSA). Not only did the two of them complete the NJP, but Peggy and Manny have already earned two (out of the needed 3) legs towards the next level- the Open Perferred Jumpers (OJP) title!! WOW!!

Peggy is an amazing trainer and a wonderful person. I wouldn't trust Manny with just anyone- and Peggy is one of the special people in shelties who are able to bring out the best in all the dogs she encounters.

Acadia's Crown Prince, "Luke", wins a 5 pt. specialty major

Acadia's Crown Prince, aka Luke, was Winner's Dog/Best of Winners for 5 points yesterday at the Interstate Shetland Sheepdog Club under long-time breeder/judge Barbara Kenealy. I have always admired Mrs. Kenealy and her dogs, so to win under her is an honor. I just love this dog. I love his parallel head planes and his finish of underjaw. I love his natural ears and his sweet, sweet eye. I also love his temperment. He is such a sweet-heart. Luke is sired by GCh. Acadia Prince of Peace (Manny) out of Ch. Acadia's Crowning Glory (Glory).

TWO New Grand Champions

Last weekend Manny and Serena were both crowned "Grand" Champions. Manny is in Alaska and was shown by my friend Peggy Crawford, and Serena was home and shown by me. They are now *GCh* Acadia Prince of Peace and *GCh.* Acadia's Serenity.

Yes, you read that right! It snowed a FEW inches!! on May 17th. Manny is doing really well and having a wonderful time with Peggy Crawford in Alaska.

Well "warm" is a relative term, and although it was "warmer" than it has been, the puppies huddled together- so we didn't stay out too long. Just enough for them to feel the sun, get a breath of fresh air, meet a friendly person, and for me to take a few pictures.

Yes, Faith had her puppies on 3/31/2013. I can't believe how time flies. There eyes are open and they are now starting on puppy food. I always get a kick out of watching puppies eat their first meal. They get it all over themselves and make such a mess- but mom loves to help clean them up.

We now know for certain that Manny IS tri-factored because there are 2 tricolor puppies in the litter. There are 2 tri boys, 3 sable boys, and 2 sable girls. I would LOVE to have one of these tri boys turn out to be show quality as I would love to have a tri Manny son.

Speaking of Manny, he is having some fun in Alaska. I will write about his adventures next.

Manny is visiting Alaska for the summer

Manny (Ch. Acadia Prince of Peace) is visiting my friends Peggy and Robert Crawford in Alaska for the summer. Peggy had leased Belle from me a number of years ago and has a a number of really lovely descendants of hers. I am really thrilled that Peggy was interested in having Manny for the summer.

Last weekend, Peggy showed Manny. He won Best of Breed, beating 3 other champions, and then the won a 4th in the Herding Group. Good Start with Peggy. I hope that he continues to do well with her. I am also hopeful that while he is there, some people breed to him.

Today Eden became the third from the Charlie Brown x Dove litter to finish the AKC championship. She is the littermate to Ch. Cassia and Ch. Manny.

She had some real high points along the way- she won a 5 point major and a Herding Group 1. I am so thrilled by this litter.

She was shown to her championship by Sue Healy in Arizona.

New Ch Acadia Prince of Peace

This weekend was HUGE!!!!
On Saturday Manny was winners dog for a 4th major to finish. That same day, at the same show, Merry was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a major as well. This brought her within 1 point of finishing.

Today, Acadia Cierra Like A Rock, AXJ, NA, NF, RN, HT, *VC* (Nicky), won his first major. He now has 12 points and just needs 1 more major to finish his championship. Nicky's win is HUGE! He needed a major to achieve the ASSA (American Shetland Sheepdog Association) Versatility Certificate (VC) - DONE! When he wins the next major, he will not only be a Ch., but he will be a Champion/ Versatility Certificate Excellent (or Ch/VCX). His mother, Ch. Sunburst Acadia Here I Come (Carrie), currently has 4 champion offspring. 5 champion offspring will give her the ASSA Register of Merit (ROM) award. Both the Ch/VCX and the ROM are considered Lifetime Achievement Awards with the ASSA. If all of the entered dogs show up at the show next weekend, it will be majors on Saturday and Sunday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Nicky can win one of those two days to finish!

Today at the Flagstaff Kennel Club show, Eden was Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, Best of Breed and Herding Group 1- shown by Sue Healy. Her brother, Acadia Prince of Peace (Manny), was Winners dog and Best of Winners at a show in VA- shown by Terry Jennings. I wish I had been at a show with Cassia- but alas, I am on a work trip and not at a dog show. I am just blown away with how well these puppies (well- they are 2.5 years old) are doing.

What a great weekend this has been so far!!!! Yesterday I got a call from Sue Healy in Arizona saying that she and Eden won Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 5 point major and today Manny won Winners Dog, Best of Winners, Best of Breed and a Herding Group 2 at a show in Virginia. The only thing that could be better would be if I had been at a show winning with Cassia too.
I can not believe how well these three littermates have been doing. I feel like I need to pinch myself!
