New Champion: *Ch* Acadia Peaceful Garden

Today Eden became the third from the Charlie Brown x Dove litter to finish the AKC championship. She is the littermate to Ch. Cassia and Ch. Manny.

She had some real high points along the way- she won a 5 point major and a Herding Group 1. I am so thrilled by this litter.

She was shown to her championship by Sue Healy in Arizona.

Yeah Manny! Manny is the litter brother to Cassia and Eden. He is the 3rd from this litter to be pointed and both he and Cassia have won majors now. That is a great start. Acadia Presence of Mind Wins a Specialty Major!

What an exciting weekend! On Saturday, Acadia Presence of Mind, "Cassia", was Winners Bitch for a 4 point major at the Blue Ridge Shetland Sheepdog Club specialty show under breeder judge Ellen Worthington. Cassia won her class each show and was pulled for consideration in Winners under breeder judge Sandra MacIntosh Feret. Today Cassia's daughter, Acadia Stage Presence, "Liza", won Runner-Up Best in Sweepstakes and then won a HUGE, QUALITY PACKED class today under breeder judge Rick Thompson.

There were a lot of really, really nice shelties being shown this weekend. The judges kept commenting on the quality- so it was even nicer to be recognized with these wins. A lot of people came up me and told me how lovely the girls were, which of course made me so proud.

But Best of All were the wonderful people who helped me make these wins possible. My friend Kristen Bardell, who is not even a "sheltie person", gave up a whole weekend to drive to Virginia to help. Diane Troese and Brenda Fuller, who groomed up Cassia while I was in the ring with Liza- they made Cassia look fabulous! Therese Walters who trimmed Cassia's head last weekend for me in prep for this weekend. Cheryl Pike who showed Cassia in the winners class today when both Cassia and Liza won their classes. Dean and Rita Von Pusch who took FABULOUS pictures of Cassia. Bill and Dawn Phillips who brought New Champion, Glory up from North Carolina so she could come home. Phew! Thank All of You!

A lovely day

I think these two pictures of are so funny. Manny is oblivious to Eden and Charlie behind him. What ever Manny is looking at (the rams) has really got is attention.

Busy,busy,busy

This past week was extremely busy.
Nancy Runyon (Foxcroft shelties) drove all night from Kentucky to breed her (almost herding champion) bitch Sara Lee to Canyon. She arrived at my house at 6:00am on Tuesday. While she was here she gave me some pointers on herding. I really enjoyed her visit.

Charlie Brown was also here for the week to breed a Ch. bitch owned by Nancy Porta (Jana shelties). The pictures in this entry are of Charlie and Dove and their puppies- Cassia, Eden, Manny. Charlie is on the end. He is the one who comes running towards the camera.

Then finally Mike and I were preparing for the Mid Atlantic Hair Sheep Breeders sale. This event was on Saturday. Sunday we were still cleaning up from the sale and then Gary and Karen came to pick up Charlie and Nancy came to pick up her bitch.

Acadia's Crowning Glory wins Best of Breed

Today, Glory, was judge Mrs. Patricia Mowbray Morgan's Best of Breed at the Burlington County Kennel Club show. Glory was shown in the Bred-by-Exhibitor class and this club also was offering "Best Bred-by-Exhibitor" and "Bred-by-Exhibitor Groups". Glory went right from the regular group ring to the Bred-by group ring where she placed 4th.

The day before she also won Best Bred-by Exhibitor and placed 3rd in the Bred-by Group. She was Reserve winners bitch that day in regular competition. I am excited to have a few really nice bitches to be showing this summer. Allie, Glory, and Dove will all be shown this summer.

Glory is the litter sister of Acadia King Charles- the sire of Dove's December litter of puppies.

Puppy Visit to Meet Dad and the Grandparents

Yesterday the puppies got to go on a "field trip" to visit Dad (Acadia King Charles) and the grandparents (Gary and Karen Brown). The Brown's graciously welcomed us all into the kitchen and they even had a play area all set up. Karen had also invited the WHOLE neighborhood!, her parentes, and friends- to come meet Charlie's puppies.

Charlie is just 17 months old and I had sold him last year as a pet to the Browns. He was a very nice puppy and I asked if they would not neuter him right away so I could see him again when he was a year old. I got to visit them and see Charlie again late last summer, and I was very excited to see that he was maturing into quite the handsome boy. I asked if it would be OK if I could breed to him- and they agreed.

The Browns are not interested in having Charlie shown, so he won't be a "champion" (of record with the AKC), but he is their "champion" family pet and he had many wonderful virtures to offer the breed, so I am delighted that they let me breed to him.

Thank you Gary and Karen (and of course Charlie).
