Happy 11th Birthday Mason

Ch. Acadia Independence Day, CD, PCD, BN, RM2, RAE, TKI

Mason turned 11 years old today.  Happy Birthday Mason.  He  has been living his best life with Anita.  The two of them just completed the Rally Choice Title. Way To Go!! Anita says that Mason still acts young and I have no doubt that it is because of the mental and physical stimulation of training and trialing.

July - 13 years ago -2010

July 30- Today would have been my dad's 94 birthday.    This July Liza turned 13.  She is still with us.

July 2010 was a monumental month in that year.  I had started a new job in March which was proving to be challenging and my father had been diagnosed with Cancer.  In other posts from 2010 I thank Guy Jeavons, Grandgables shelties, for allowing his new champion GCh.P Grandgables The Frat Boy, ROM, ROMC (he didn't have all of those titles at that time) to come visit so I could breed him to the sisters, GCh. Acadia Presence of Mind (Cassia) and Ch. Acadia Peaceful Garden.  They were both due the end of July.  As we now know, they were born the same week my father passed away.

This past week both GCh.S. Acadia Stage Presence, CC ("Liza') and GCh. Acadia Serenity ("Serena") celebrated birthdays.  Those two girls were so significant to me and at a time that was challenging, they proved to be a bright spot.   Liza was my team-mate who made all of  my dog show & breeder dreams come true.  Serena and I won the Bred-by Exhibitor class at the ASSA National.  That is the one class that I feel is the most important and she was the one to win it.  Posts about the these two girls can be found through-out the blog.

Happy Birthday dad, Liza and Serena.

Congratulations to the 5 new title holders

Sheltie Pedigree Lines  is a great service to sheltie breeders.  This site is a historic and current record of sheltie genealogy.  I use it constantly to test out possible stud dogs and the pedigree compatibility with my girls.

One of the services of this site is that they keep track of new title holders.   I enjoy seeing the new title holders. The site has two lists, one for new Champions, and one for new performance titles.  When I just looked, there are 5 Acadia bred shelties on the new performance title holder list.  On this blog I updated Lucy's title to reflect her MACH.  Congratulations to all!!  I am a proud breeder!

Ch. Hartwyns Acadia Totality- Dwight

Dwight is a really special guy.  He is very moderate- in every way.  I haven't measured him recently, so I don't know how tall he is.  He is balanced and fits himself.   His head planes are level, eye shape and size are correct.  His ears are Natural!  His foot timing is perfect and he moves effortlessly.  His temperament is easy going and responsive, but not nervous in any way.  His coat is Huge and great texture.  I have done a bunch of his health testing- which is on the OFA website- and so far he is a very "Normal" dog.   This is a really nice guy and I am excited to have him.

*New Champion* Acadia Independence Day

I got a wonderful text from Mason's handler informing me that he was Winners Dog today for that final major and the Championship.   I always like to show the dogs myself, but I don't like to go to shows in the winter, and Florida has 2 solid weeks of shows.  Lots of full-time handlers go to Florida to take advantage of good weather and multiple shows in one location.

Mason- what's that in your mouth?
Mason was being handled by a friend who professionally handles shelties for a living, and has the advantage of living in Florida.  I am so thankful that happened quickly- she only showed him in 3 shows.Mason is the son of GCh. Acadia Serenity and is her first champion, from her first litter.  These are pictures of him growing up.

GCh. Acadia Serenity is moving to Florida

Congratulations to Hector and Meredith Hector of Enclave shelties. Serena will be joining them this year and I think she has a lot to offer. I am super excited to see what sort of an impact she has on their successful breeding program. Both Hector and Meredith are licensed judges, and I am proud that they thought of me when looking for a special addition to their breeding program. Serena leaves her son, Mason, at Acadia to continue her influence here in Pennsylvania.

New *CH* Acadia Serenity's PERFECT day!!

Saturday we were in Mass. at the Granite State Shetland Sheepdog Club's specialty shows.  They were having 2 shows in one day which was perfect for me as I could travel on both Friday and Sunday and still get 2 opportunities to finish Serena  The judge at the first specialty was Tom Coen (Macdega shelties) and the judge at the second specialty was Joseph Molloy.  Both of these judges are HIGHLY regarded in shelties and their opinions carry a lot of weight.

At the first show Serena was being shown in the Bred-by-Exhibitor class because she still needed one point.  She was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for another major and the Championship!  I was able to move her to the Best of Breed class for the second specialty under Mr. Molloy.  He awarded her Best of Breed!!!  She won the whole thing!  I can't even begin to describe how great that day was!

The other exhibitors were so nice, they were genuine in their congratulations.   The club hosted a wonderful show and even had a dinner for exhibitors between the two shows.  It was really nice.  The people were nice, the weather was nice, the wins were especially nice!  It was a Perfect day!

Acadia Serenity wins a major- 1 point to go!

This Memorial Day Serena won her 2nd major to bring her within 1 point of the Championship.   She was shown in the Bred-by-Exhibitor class, which is my favorite class.  Dove won her class too, so they were both in for Winners.  I am showing the tri boy, Acadia's Hidden Treasure "Cache" and he was Reserve Winners Dog.  All-in-all, it was a good day.

Since the National Serena has been out winning points and closing in on the championship.   This past weekend she was Winners' Bitch at the Harrisburg Shetland Sheepdog Club specialty for a 4 pt. major.  She needs 1 major and 1 single point to complete the championship.  (photo is from the ASSA National- not from this specialty)

ASSA 2012: Acadia Serenity- 1st in Bred-by-Exhibitor class

Acadia Serenity "Serena" was the only one I took to the 2012 ASSA National. One person commented, "you are putting all your eggs in one basket"- but when you win your class, it is a good egg!!! Since she won, we got to go back in to the Winners Bitch class. The pink suit was the Bred-by class, the white suit was Winners.

Acadia Serenity wins Best of Breed from the 9-12 month puppy class

Today Serena beat Merry for Winners Bitch. Merry just needs 1 point, but it didn't happen today. Today was Serena's day and Merry went reserve to her. It is really hot! NOAA offical temp was 100 degrees air temp. Serena was showing her heart out- so- she looked great. I had Cassia entered as a Champion, but she is in season and is just not acting herself- so- again, it was just Serena's day. She beat 1 champion and 1 almost champion- Not bad for my little girl!!

(this is a picture of her at the National. Today's shows were outdoors- in the Heat!!)

Acadia Serenity and __??__ at 10wks

I am keeping two puppies. One is from the Ch. Grandgables The Frat Boy x Acadia Peaceful Garden litter. That puppy's name will be Acadia Serenity, call name "Serena". The other puppy is from the Ch. Grandgables The Frat Boy x Acadia Presence of Mind litter. I would like to use "Presence" in the registared name, but I can't come up with anything I like- and I don't have a call name for her yet.
