Happy New Year 2019

Acadia King Charles says Happy New Year.  On December 30 , 2018 his one and only litter (with Dove) that included GCh. Cassia, GCh. Manny and Ch. Eden turned 10 years old.   Today Charlie's family sent me this great picture.  It is so hard to believe how time flies.  I hope that I take the time to stop and smell the Roses and enjoy each dog every day.

Acadia Serenity wins a 4pt specialty major

Since the National Serena has been out winning points and closing in on the championship.   This past weekend she was Winners' Bitch at the Harrisburg Shetland Sheepdog Club specialty for a 4 pt. major.  She needs 1 major and 1 single point to complete the championship.  (photo is from the ASSA National- not from this specialty)

New Champion: *Ch* Acadia Peaceful Garden

Today Eden became the third from the Charlie Brown x Dove litter to finish the AKC championship. She is the littermate to Ch. Cassia and Ch. Manny.

She had some real high points along the way- she won a 5 point major and a Herding Group 1. I am so thrilled by this litter.

She was shown to her championship by Sue Healy in Arizona.

Acadia Peaceful Garden wins a Group 1

Today at the Flagstaff Kennel Club show, Eden was Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, Best of Breed and Herding Group 1- shown by Sue Healy. Her brother, Acadia Prince of Peace (Manny), was Winners dog and Best of Winners at a show in VA- shown by Terry Jennings. I wish I had been at a show with Cassia- but alas, I am on a work trip and not at a dog show. I am just blown away with how well these puppies (well- they are 2.5 years old) are doing.

Herding Group 2 for Acadia Prince of Peace and 5 point major for his sister Acadia Peaceful Garden

What a great weekend this has been so far!!!! Yesterday I got a call from Sue Healy in Arizona saying that she and Eden won Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 5 point major and today Manny won Winners Dog, Best of Winners, Best of Breed and a Herding Group 2 at a show in Virginia. The only thing that could be better would be if I had been at a show winning with Cassia too.
I can not believe how well these three littermates have been doing. I feel like I need to pinch myself!

5 consecutive generations

The text is tough to read here on the blog. Saturday these will be on http://www.sheltiesonline.com/

Liza and Serena are the 6th consecutive generation of Acadia. Carrie is Anna's mother, who is Genna's mother, who is Dove's mother, who is the mother of both Cassia and Manny. Cassia is Liza's mother. Carrie's mother is a champion- and up to Genna we have 4 consecutive generations of Champion bitches. I am fairly certain that both Cassia and Liza will finish quickly- I need to work on Dove. She has 5 points, but she is not one to "ask for the win"- so she usually goes "reserve". If I can get that done, it would be 7 consecutive generations of Champion bitches- that is VERY impressive in shelties- so it is a good goal.

Acadia's Peaceful Garden at the 2011 ASSA National

Therese Walters showed Eden for me. I got to take pictures. Sue Healy, a judge and fellow sheltie breeder, approached me while Eden was in the ring and wanted to know if I would consider selling her. I thought that was a very nice compliment. Eden is now in Arizona with Sue.

Acadia Serenity and __??__ at 10wks

I am keeping two puppies. One is from the Ch. Grandgables The Frat Boy x Acadia Peaceful Garden litter. That puppy's name will be Acadia Serenity, call name "Serena". The other puppy is from the Ch. Grandgables The Frat Boy x Acadia Presence of Mind litter. I would like to use "Presence" in the registared name, but I can't come up with anything I like- and I don't have a call name for her yet.

on the lighter side of Life- and death-

On the lighter side- Eden, who had been bred to Brother (Ch. Grandgables the Frat Boy) was due to deliver the same week that my father died. When my sister called and said, "get home now-" I loaded Eden into the car too. When I got to the hospital, my father was already gone, but I wanted to stay with him a while. Of course the rest of the family had been there for most of the day. About an hour after I arrived my mom was ready to leave, so my sister said, "I will go home with Cadie." To which I said, "as long as you don't mind sitting next to Eden- who is pregnant." The nurse who had been caring for my dad said, "you have a pregnant dog with you?" I said, "yes, and I am thinking that she could deliver tonight." "Well I have never heard THAT one before!" she said. Eden waited until that Wednesday- and had 4 girls.

Her sister, Cassia had also been bred to Brother. She had 2 girls and 1 boy. This picture is of all 7 puppies. As you can see, one of them is a mis-mark. I have never had a white-factored, mis-marked puppy before. She can not be shown in conformation, so she will be available to a pet home.

Acadia Peaceful Garden "Eden" wins her first point

This past weekend Eden was Winner's Bitch for her first point! I was very excited as I had entered her on a whim. She is in the 12-18 month class which can be very awkward for shelties, but she was holding her coat, and her quality, so I decided just to enter her since I was going with Kiara anyway. That morning I noticed that Eden had come into season- bummer- sometimes that makes them feel a bit frumpy, so I didn't expect much.

Both days Eden was the only one in her class, so of course she would win it (unless the judge decided she was not quality and with-held the ribbon- which would have been a shock, but is one option). Kiara was in open sable both days. On Saturday Kiara didn't win her class, so I showed Eden in Winners- and she won! She showed like a little trooper and I was SO PLEASED to win. On Sunday Kiara did win the open sable class, so I showed Kiara in Winners and someone else had to show Eden. Kiara went Reserve and Eden had a good time playing in the ring :-)

A lovely day

I think these two pictures of are so funny. Manny is oblivious to Eden and Charlie behind him. What ever Manny is looking at (the rams) has really got is attention.
